刘大为，1945年生，祖籍山东诸城。1968年毕业于内蒙古师范大学美术系。1980年毕业于中央美术学院中国画系研究生班。曾任解放军艺术学院美术系教授、主任，中国文联副主席、中国美术家协会主席、教科文组织下属国际造型艺术家协会主席、全国政协委员。中国文学艺术界联合会第十届荣誉委员。主要作品《布里亚特婚礼》《雏鹰》《幼狮》《张华壮曲谱新篇》《小米加步枪》《漠上》《阳光下》《马背上的民族》《晚风》《辉煌之路》《帕米尔高原的婚礼》《草原上的歌》《巴扎归来》《人民公仆》《雪线》《远山》《雪域生灵》等。 出版有《写意人物画技法》《刘大为速写》《刘大为作品集》《刘大为小品集》《刘大为水彩画作品》《史诗与牧歌——刘大为作品集》等。2020年6月4日，刘大为以2019年度公开拍卖市场作品总成交额501万元人民币名列《2020胡润中国艺术榜》第73位。
刘大为兼擅工笔与写意，以反映北方少数民族生活风情及重大历史题材著称于世，其代表作品《马背上的民族》，是他用传统工笔重彩手法创作出的佳构，曾在全国大型美展上获奖。平凡中见伟岸、平和中显沧桑的功力是刘大为十几年边陲生活的展开，也是其对历史风貌与时代精神的独特把握。
刘大为在中央美院中国画系研究生班学习二年，主攻人物画专业，在蒋兆和、叶浅予、黄胄、卢沉、姚有多诸先生的指导下，刻苦学习，进步很快，在随后的几年里，很快地掌握了中国画的表现规律，无论工笔重彩或水墨写意诸种不同的技法，他运用得都很娴熟。这对于他的创作水平迅速地提高，无疑是个很有利的条件。然而，对于像刘大为这样的中年画家所以取得今天的成就，与其说是功力的扎实和绘画语言的娴熟，毋宁说更重要的是由于他把艺术与生活、艺术与社会的关系摆得很正，对待传统与创新的关系处理得比较稳健所使然。
刘大为的艺术，不仅继承和延续人物画古往今来积极反映生活、追求艺术真善美的优秀传统，而且在改革开放的新时代作为社会主义美术的主导力量无论在题材的开拓上或是艺术形式技巧的表现上，都有自己独到的运用。
Liu Dawei, born in 1945, was born in Zhucheng, Shandong Province. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Inner Mongolia Normal University in 1968. He graduated from the graduate class of Chinese Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1980. He was professor and director of the Department of Fine Arts of the PLA Academy of Arts, Vice chairman of the Chinese Federation of Arts and Culture, chairman of the Chinese Artists Association, Chairman of the International Association of Plastic Artists under UNESCO, and member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Honorary member of the 10th China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. His main works are "Buryatia Wedding", "Young Eagle", "Young Lion", "Zhang Huazhuang's new music", "Millet plus rifle", "On the desert", "Under the Sun", "The Nation on horseback", "Evening wind", "Brilliant Road", "Pamir Plateau wedding", "Song on the grassland", "Baza Return", "People's servant", "Snow line", "Far Mountain", "Snow Life" and so on. He has published "freehand figure painting techniques", "Liu Dawei's sketches", "Liu Dawei's Works", "Liu Dawei's watercolor paintings", "Epic and Pastoral songs - Liu Dawei's works" and so on. On June 4, 2020, Liu Dawei ranked 73rd in the Hurun China Art List 2020 with a total turnover of 5.01 million yuan for his works in the public auction market in 2019.
Liu Dawei, who is good at meticulous brushwork and freehand brushwork, is famous for reflecting the life style and major historical themes of the northern ethnic minorities. His representative work "The Nation on Horseback" is a fine structure created by traditional meticulous brushwork and heavy color techniques, which has won awards at large-scale national art exhibitions. Liu Dawei's ability to see grandeur in the ordinary and show vicissitudes in the peaceful is the development of his borderland life for more than ten years, and it is also his unique grasp of the historical style and the spirit of The Times.
Liu Dawei studied for two years in the graduate class of the Chinese Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, mainly majoring in figure painting. Under the guidance of Jiang Zhaohe, Ye Qianyu, Huang Zhou, Lu Shen and Yao Youduozhu, he studied hard and made rapid progress. In the following years, he quickly mastered the expression laws of Chinese painting. This is undoubtedly a very favorable condition for the rapid improvement of his creative level. However, for a middle-aged painter like Liu Dawei to achieve today's achievements, it is not so much because of his solid skills and proficiency in painting language, but more importantly because he put the relationship between art and life, art and society in a very correct way, and dealt with the relationship between tradition and innovation relatively stable.
Liu Dawei's art not only inherits and continues the excellent tradition of figure painting to actively reflect life and pursue the truth, goodness and beauty of art, but also has its own unique application in the new era of reform and opening up, as the leading force of socialist art, whether in the development of themes or the expression of art forms and techniques.

近期我公司征集到一幅刘大为的《高原秋》，长136cm、宽67cm。全图设色淡雅，画面中骆驼与少数民族少女一同在北方高原行旅，刘大为通过大块的偏锋浓淡湿墨来突出画面的层次感。在色彩的运用上，他用松石绿点缀人物服饰，为灰色的画面增添一抹亮色，同时通过飘飞的雪花等细节，增添了画面的氛围感，使得整个画面既苍茫又充满生机。骆驼不仅是画面的主体，更是传递情感和意境的重要载体。通过骆驼的神情、人物的动态以及周围环境的描绘，展现了一种坚韧不拔、任劳任怨的精神。这种精神不仅是对北方少数民族生活风情的真实写照，也是对人生哲理的一种深刻诠释。
