宋徽宗赵佶继承兄位，崇尚书法绘画，在位有二十五年（公元1101年-公元1125年），共六个年号，曾为几种年号钱题写钱文。后世研究者称呼这些钱币为御书钱。泉家论御书钱，推崇宁为第一，大观钱为第二。“大观通宝”有小平、折二、折三、折五、折十，及特大型钱。折十钱文最为美观，小平中也有俊美之品。最为名贵的为特大型折五大观钱。
大观通宝钱是徽宗大观年间铸造的，相传崇宁五年（公元1106年）年末，当时有人夜观星象时忽然发现彗星闪过，叹为观止，徽宗认为是吉祥之兆，故而改元。改崇宁六年（公元1107年）为大观元年，再而铸钱。大观通宝行书大观小平铁钱曾在陕西发现过，数量不多，铁母更是稀罕。这种行书大观是瘦金大观钱的异品，钱文虽无瘦金之刚劲，但飘逸洒脱，秀美异常，为徽宗手笔。特型出号瘦金大观，直径在6厘米以上，已超乎常制，可谓“宋钱之王”。四个瘦金体钱文，铁画银钩，光辉闪烁，格外表现出瘦金书之美。
Emperor Huizong of Song, Zhao Ji, inherited the throne from his elder brother and revered calligraphy and painting. He reigned for twenty-five years (1101 AD -1125 AD), with a total of six reign titles, and wrote inscriptions for several reign titles. Later researchers referred to these coins as imperial script coins. The Quan family recommends Chongning as the top scholar and Daguan as the second scholar in terms of imperial treasury coins. The 'Daguan Tongbao' includes small flat coins, double fold coins, triple fold coins, five fold coins, ten fold coins, and extra large coins. The ten cent discount is the most beautiful, and there are also handsome items in Xiaoping. The most precious one is the extra large discount five yuan coin.
The Daguan Tongbao coins were minted during the reign of Emperor Huizong in the Daguan period. It is said that at the end of the fifth year of Chongning (1106 AD), someone suddenly noticed a comet flashing by while observing stars at night, and was amazed. Emperor Huizong believed it was an auspicious sign, so the coins were changed. Change the sixth year of Chongning (1107 AD) to the first year of Daguan, and then cast coins. Daguan Tongbao Xingshu Daguan Xiaoping iron coins were once discovered in Shaanxi, with a small quantity and rare iron mother. This type of running script is a unique product of thin gold coins. Although the inscriptions on the coins lack the rigidity of thin gold, they are elegant, free spirited, and exceptionally beautiful, written by Emperor Huizong. The special model is called the Thin Gold Grand View, with a diameter of over 6 centimeters, which exceeds the usual standard and can be called the "King of Song Money". Four thin gold coins with iron paintings and silver hooks, shining brightly, particularly showcasing the beauty of thin gold books.

在文化、艺术等领域里，徽宗曾做出过重要贡献。在货币文化的创新上，他也身体力行，不遗余力。人们常说，书法在运用上有三难：篆刻难，书匾难，制钱文难。此三难中方印、书匾还比较容易，而在圆钱上铸字则要难得多了。但是宋徽宗赵佶却“因难见巧”，在钱币的方寸之间把他自创的“瘦金书”发挥得淋漓尽致，从而把书法艺术推上了峰巅。赵佶的书法初学黄庭坚、薛稷和褚遂良，后自成一体，被称为“瘦金体”，铁画银钩劲瘦淡雅，风韵别致，堪称一绝。他写的钱文与众不同，一眼就可看出他的手迹，这充分显示出他的书法艺术个性和美感。在钱币制作上，在方孔圆钱上安排四个瘦金体文，加上狭缘而不用阔缘，钱文与细廓的线条配合得非常得体，和谐。而这些钱文瘦直挺拔，横画收笔带点，坚画收笔带钩，撇如匕首，按如切刀，劲健有力，洒脱自如，加上廓深肉细的精湛作工，更显得豪纵俊逸，气度不凡了。特别是“大观通宝”四个字，有简有繁，在圆钱上本不易处理得当，但他能部署、配置得恰到好处，令人赏心悦目。
Emperor Huizong made significant contributions in the fields of culture, art, and more. He also leads by example and spares no effort in innovating monetary culture. People often say that there are three difficulties in the application of calligraphy: difficulty in seal carving, difficulty in writing plaques, and difficulty in making coins and inscriptions. In these three difficulties, it is relatively easy to print and write plaques, but it is much more difficult to cast characters on round coins. However, Emperor Huizong of Song, Zhao Ji, "found it difficult to see the trick" and fully utilized his self created "thin gold calligraphy" within the dimensions of coins, thus pushing the art of calligraphy to its peak. Zhao Ji's calligraphy beginners Huang Tingjian, Xue Ji, and Chu Suiliang later formed their own unique style, known as the "Skinny Gold Body". The iron paintings and silver hooks are strong, slender, and elegant, with a unique charm that can be called a masterpiece. His calligraphy style is unique, and his handwriting can be seen at a glance, which fully demonstrates his artistic personality and beauty in calligraphy. In the production of coins, four thin gold inscriptions are arranged on square hole round coins, with narrow edges instead of wide edges. The lines of the inscriptions and the thin contours match very appropriately and harmoniously. And these Qian Wen are thin, straight and upright, with horizontal strokes with dots, firm strokes with hooks, swiping like daggers, pressing like knives, strong and powerful, free and easy, coupled with exquisite craftsmanship with deep and thin contours, they appear even more majestic and elegant, with extraordinary aura. Especially the four characters' Daguan Tongbao ', which are both simple and complex, may not be easy to handle properly with round coins, but they can be deployed and configured perfectly, which is pleasing to the eye.
